Dragon Quest XI S PS4 Upgrade

When Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age was announced for PlayStation 4 earlier today, existing Dragon Quest XI players on Sony's system wondered whether they'd have to buy the game over again. Due south is essentially a definitive edition of the role-playing release. Information technology packs in new story content with boosted gameplay modes, a fully orchestrated soundtrack, and more. But can people who already bought the original Dragon Quest 11 simply upgrade to this new version of the game? Sadly not.

As revealed on the championship'southward official Japanese website (as translated by BlackKite) there is no upgrade for existing Dragon Quest XI players on PS4. In other words, if you want to experience all the new stuff, you're gonna take to buy Dragon Quest 11 S.

Supposedly, one of the reasons for this is because Dragon Quest 11 South on PS4 is a port of the Nintendo Switch version, which launched in 2019. The official website reads: "[Dragon Quest Eleven Due south is] a port of the Nintendo Switch version, so the graphics are not the same as they were for the original Dragon Quest 11 on PlayStation four. Delight annotation, however, that the resolution and frame rate are at to the lowest degree as good equally they were for the original PlayStation iv release."

In other words, it seems as though this re-release is going to bear over the graphical downgrades of the Switch version. Baffling stuff from Square Enix, and the publisher wants existing PS4 players to pay full price for information technology all over again.
